Disabling Pop-up blocking for TDME Online services

Some features of TDME Online services can be blocked by pop-up blockers. It is recommended that you disable this blocking for the TDME site (portal.tdme.ae). Below are directions for disabling popup suppression on some of the more common applications:

  • Google Toolbar (Windows)
  • PopUpCop (Windows)
  • Mozilla Firebird (Windows and Mac)
  • Safari (Mac)
  • Norton Internet Security
  • Google Toolbar - http://toolbar.google.com/

You can let a pop-up through by holding the CTRL or Shift key while clicking the link that generates a pop-up. If you want to view pop-ups on a site you visit often, you can add that site to your "whitelist". Instructions on how to do this can be found here.

At some sites, you will not be able to see pop-ups after they've been blocked. A cookie may be stored on your computer that keeps the pop-up from displaying. To remove cookies, go to your browser's Tools menu and select Internet Options. On the General tab, in the Temporary Internet Files section, click the Delete Cookies button. Then try going to the site again.

    PopUpCop - http://www.popupcop.com/

In your browser, go to TDME(www.portal.tdme.ae)’s web site. Click the shield button to pull down PopUpCop's menu. Choose Allow Popups from this Site... This tells PopUpCop to add the site to its Allow List.

    Mozilla Firebird - http://www.mozilla.org/products/firebird/
To turn off pop-ups for TDME Online services (portal.tdme.ae).
    1.

Click on the Tools menu, then click on Options....

    2.

    Click on "Web Features"

Add a site to the whitelist by clicking Add Site....

To remove a site from the whitelist, select that site from the list and then click Remove Site. To clear the whitelist completely, click Remove All Sites.

    Safari - http://www.apple.com/safari/

You can toggle the status of pop-up window blocking by checking or un-checking the item "Block Pop-up windows" in Safari menu:

    Norton Internet Security: - http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/

One of the Ad Blocking features of NIS and NPF is the Pop-up Window Blocking option. In some cases, enabling the Pop-up Window Blocking feature may cause your TDME (portal.tdme.ae) program to not work correctly because your TDME (portal.tdme.ae) program displays ad banners. In other cases, having Ad Blocking enabled may cause your TDME (portal.tdme.ae) to function improperly. To fix this, try configuring access for your TDME (portal.tdme.ae) site specifically, and then, if this does not work, disable Pop-up Blocking. If that does not work, disable Ad Blocking.

To configure Web access for TDME (portal.tdme.ae)
    1.

    Open NIS.

    2.

Click Ad Blocking > Configure > Advanced > Add Site button.

    3.

Type the URL for your TDME (portal.tdme.ae) into the dialog box (TDME - tdme.ae, portal.tdme.ae).

    4.

On the User Settings tab under Pop-up Ads, uncheck "Use ad blocking settings," and ensure that Permit is checked.

    5.

Perform step 4 for Cookies and Java applets as well.

    6.

    Restart your computer.

    To disable Pop-up
    1.

    Open NIS.

    2.

    Double-click Ad Blocking.

    3.

Disable Turn on Pop-up Window Blocking.

    4.

    Click OK.

    5.

    Restart your computer.

If this does not solve the problem, perform steps 1-5 to disable Ad Blocking.

With the Ad blocking and Pop-up blocking features disabled, NIS or NPF cannot stop pop-ups or block Web ads on your computer. If you need to use these features, you should re-enable them by checking the boxes that you unchecked in the section "To disable Pop-up and Ad Blocking" after you are done using your TDME (portal.tdme.ae) account.
